The Alpha Seer understanding true art

If you know anything about computer, then you should have no problem with how data are being transferred, or with the principle of data transfer itself. The same principle is at work here with the imprint of karma on the mind (XIN) going from one lifetime to the next. To make it even simpler, please note the Alpha Seer’s seal in the first attachment, given here as an example. Not too long ago the Alpha Seer was a pretty stupid and conceited dude, full of vanity, like most of us here in his age group at the time… . He had even paid a good sum for a seal to be made, a seal bearing his name in Chinese calligraphy,… . It was engraved in Vancouver, Canada, by a renowned calligrapher from China Mainland who was also a college professor,… If you ask me now,–HEY, that money could have been used for better purposes! Anyway, what I am trying to point out is that a seal can create a fine impression, also called imprint. Once the impression is made, the physical body of the seal can be thrown away, destroyed,–yet the fine impression remains. All the basic information is stored in that imprint. Now, one may not be aware of this unless there is clairvoyance, but the Dharma stipulates that each and everyone of us is endowed with three bodies: 1. the body of form, 2. the Dharma body, and 3. the transformation body. If you sometime wondered why we all have two ears, NOT 3, one nose, NOT 2, two eyes, NOT 4, 4 limbs, NOT 8, or you will be called an octopus,– one set of sexual organ, not multiple, –otherwise your name is Hugh Hefner…, then you may understand why it can be said that we are all endowed with three bodies listed above, not 4.  You cannot have an extra body simply because you are a Tathagata! That is why all sentient beings, specifically, human beings, are equal in that sense. You may be Donald Trump and you decide to make a 4-d copy of your original 3 bodies,–just to brag to your friends how resourceful you are, but that goes into a discussion for another day… . Anyway, the destruction of the body of form may have occurred at death, and your son or daughter may have cremated that body,–i.e. your body of form,– but not unlike the example I just showed you of the seal, the imprint of your karma produced in your lifetime was made, and that exact impression, a complete record, originally stored in the XIN, will be kept alive in the next round of existence whereby the transformation body will do its job with succinct precision. The resulting incarnate ( be it human, animal, or plant ), with an exact copy of your XIN data, continues to experience births and deaths, and suffering, driven by the force of karma.

Remember, this was some idea put forth by Sakyamuni some 2500 years ago, when computer was a pretty popular subject, of course.

Or was I wrong in saying that?

Please read Genesis 1-3 carefully with an open mind, bearing in mind that some of you here may belong to certain religious sects, such as Christian, Orthodox, Islamic, or even a completely different meditation system. But mind you, given the fact that the Alpha Seer himself is not interested in religion at all, and has always regarded the gurus with distrust, none of these materials being transmitted are intended for folks with mediocre intelligence. The Alpha Seer DOES NOT BELIEVE IN GOD, nor does he pander to the pride of race, education levels, social status, nation, or tribe. He is just your regular guy in America, an artist some of the times but a self-proclaimed scientist at other times. He is a Chinese American currently living in Minnesota with his wife Kate, politically neutral, yet NONE of that really bear upon the Alpha Seer as any kind of obstruction, lest he would find himself lost in a long dark tunnel of his own digging! The Alpha Seer even refute the title of a Buddhist because he is in fact not a Buddhist! But that does not mean that he should deny the amazing wisdom of Sakyamuni, Tsongkhapa, or the 6th Patriarch! The Buddha was once asked, “Who are you? Are you a human being?” His answer: “No, I am not a human being!” It takes someone established in the realization of emptiness to really understand why that is not a joke. Hopefully we can all go into this together with open mind. What is being offered here is a gift for all. It is the sprouting of a seed, or a wondrous fruit ripening in the revelation of an overflow of compassion. If you ask: whose compassion is that? then you are asking the wrong question,– because there is no ownership implied, –and there can never be. Just like the Buddha’s answer: I am not a human being, that said compassion bears no ownership. And the same compassion requires that you transmit this Dharma to others in like manner, making this world a better place. An imprint of karma for the next round of existence is being made at a single click of the mouse,–how cool can that be?

On the other hand, if you find the message too offensive, just don’t hesitate to voice your concern,–and I will remove you as a recipient forthwith,–that is a guarantee ! Don’t worry about losing my friendship,–you won’t be enjoying the relationship anyway because the Alpha Seer is known to be quite impatient with the “Robin” type of folks,…. . And a “Robin” type of folks is essentially an argumentative person with a close mind and tunnel vision.

HEY, THE ALPHA SEER NEVER SAYS HE IS PERFECT! (If you want perfection, look to the Buddha Gautama,– extraordinary Tathagata who, it was said, can remember many of his trillions of past existence, while I can barely speak just 3 languages !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Nothing is more certain than death, yet nothing in the world can be more uncertain than the exact time,  place, or circumstances of our death.

First of all, folks: congratulations, for having survived here in this room this long without getting booted by the Alpha Seer! That is a sure indication that you folks are extremely intelligent!
In any case, I owe it to you to provide an explanation as to why our unique fellow-attendant in this chat room, i.e. the great master Knox Martin, has become so excited by the design as shown in FIGURE 1. even though I would assume that most of you must have figured it out already.
Like Einstein said, if you cannot explain it simply, you simply do not understand it well enough. So let’s try to explain it in the simplest terms possible, to see if understanding can be further enhanced.
What makes Asian food taste better? The short answer is, the fermentation within Asian food can really excite your taste buds. Of course there is also the skill of the Asian cook and the temperature in the wok at which the food is cooked and prepared. Those additional factors are not to be disputed. But it all comes down to the fermentation in the food itself.The same may be said about Alpha composition. It is the geometric underpinning in the design that has provided the fermentation in real art, the tasty stuff in the spiritual food for our soul!
When the human spirit is not enlightened, there has to be the blockage of Qi in the bigger picture in the general field of human endeavors, translating itself into turmoils, wars, struggles, and other disasters and disharmony.
Now let’s look at the Yin energies, i.e. the entire black portion in the composition in Figure 1.
Anticlockwise from bottom left, we have encountered these blocks: 1.3-leaf propeller, 2. L- shape, 3. vertical umbrella shape, 4. the Greek letter epsilon in the mirrored orientation.
Looking at the Yang energies, we realize that this swastika look-alike structure is encountered. It owes its formation to,–as if in direct response to,– those black energies.
Now if one were to take this explanation to the general public, they would most certainly boo in an annoying way, and a riot would probably result because the swastika always evokes the vileness of the Nazi regime. The problem is, the most sacred of all symbols: one representing the Nirvana state, or the Buddha Gautama’s enlightenment, is also a swastika. Jesus Christ is also represented by a simplified form of the swastika, a cross, yet the sentiment-seeking crowd would most readily associate Alpha art with those unpleasant things and condemn it of course because they do not understand it.
Why such vileness IN THE HUMAN SPIRIT, when we as human, are also capable of the deepest compassion and supreme harmony?
The short answer to that is, CORRECTNESS HAS BEEN VIOLATED. When the correct principle is absent, vileness will most certainly result, and we call that evil. Take a look at the current scenario of the art market. Look at the type of “art” the impostors and their dealers are installing in the galleries or auction houses. Vileness is so pervasive. There is evil everywhere.
Evil is everywhere because without awareness and understanding, incorrect thinking results.

Having said that, I realized I still have not addressed the reason why we found the great master in such a jovial mood,–when counting the number of appreciative bars, you may ask me why a few simple geometric blocks could possibly have precipitated such excitement from Knox Martin.
Here’s my attempt for an explanation. I can only pretend to be Knox myself for the moment, based on the principle that tasty stuff excite our taste buds in like manner.
If you look at those blocks, it would be easy for anyone to say,
“Oh I can make those too, now what is the big fuss?”
O.K. Try it then!
It is without a doubt an easy thing for anyone to make any single block without the constraints of what I shall introduce as follows. Yes, even a chimpanzee can be trained to perform that task. But to make all of those blocks, black and white, and constructing them all in one breath, with the requirements set forth, demanding that each one is independently accountable and perfect in the calligraphic sense, i.e. nothing should be left hanging out or dangling like a dead tree limb in the wind, and that each block must be related to the rest intimately,–with balance being there, movement being there, Qi flow checked, and ONE-NESS present,–and on top of that, you are also given a long list of other requirements,–so that eventually, the Yin and the Yang energies will become so entwined and interrelated that what is demanded of the Yin is also demanded of the Yang. The conductor of such intricate orchestration must be someone with perfect pitch, you say,–someone in the caliber of Mozart and Beethoven, possibly!
Now that is what I call hard!
And a job like that may be called a million year job, as it can stand up for a million years receiving admiration and tribute from unborn geniuses in the posterity.
Now entered folks like Jackson Pollock, someone who had tried to ape the artistic geniuses in their operations without much success,–but he craved the life style of an artist, and wanted to make a few bucks by “doing art!” Since Pollock is unable to create the correct constitution of Yin and Yang energies in an orchestration of divine beauty, he opted to go the opposite way,–i.e. the erratic way! His dripping technique is the expression of such cynicism!
We all know there is only one possible shining path to Reality,– but the erratic ways? They are plenty… !
Are we going to fault him for doing that? No, not at all. This is a free country! As long as that erratic behavior is confined to spheres where human life is not directly or adversely affected, he is entitled to do or say anything. That would be an appropriate action under the law, even though it is an erratic action. The law would still protect erratic action, especially not many people can tell a real art from junk one way or the other. Only an Alpha Seer has the ability to expose an impostor or condemn such actions as erratic, fake, or counterfeit, with wider, unseen, implications of vileness consequently in the larger field of human endeavors. If you make counterfeit money, you are in jail in no time when caught,–but counterfeit art? Who care, right?

However, the record must be set straight, as the damage to human civilization is done, unseen and unspoken. It is done through the concerted effort of the impostors and the academia. It won’t be just a dent in the big picture, but inherently a much wide-spread disaster,like an epidemic–the creation of gimmicks in the name of art is here to stay. That is how and where vileness find its way into our system, and our global civilization. So infestation is not just confined to the body, without a doubt, it can disease our spirit as well!

It must also be corrected for the record on the eve of the SHE exhibition in the LG Tripp Gallery at Philadelphia: the great master Knox Martin is not interested in the female form. Far from it, folks! Knox always has art as his subject matter!
What has been touted as “female forms” by art critics far and wide is just an excuse adopted by the genius Knox Martin, whereby art is transformed beyond that which is familiar or mundane. Knox is instead taking perception to where it has never been before, –and forgive me for saying this, great art is NEVER intended for the spiritual nourishment of the general public either… . Cezanne had fought hard against the Paris Salon. The same piece of history is now repeating itself. Well, Knox had never been as vocal as Cezanne,–Knox is a much gentler spirit, comparatively more peaceful and serene.
Now if we can all give the great man a break: bravely embracing him as currently the ONLY real thing in the whole wide world, while at the same time, declining to accept anything less than that which provides a shining path to Reality and greatness, then there is still a chance for us to redeem ourselves, to celebrate this Age as it eventually dawns of artistic awakening, a new Renaissance created mainly by the super creator and Alpha Seer Knox Martin!
Considering the fact that deKooning had received wider public acceptance at the age of 65,– whereas the work of Knox is so much more potent and exciting than even that of Cezanne, who was called “the Father of Modern Art,” Knox’s public recognition is way past its due.
Would you opt to give the great man a break or would you rather the world to withhold a full-scale admiration, and in the meantime futilely projecting someone else to come on the scene anytime soon to bear the torch of artistic enlightenment for mankind, and who would turn out to be just as great as Knox? That is a laughable matter altogether!
It is cowardly thinking, you know!
Herd instinct is never anything but cowardly.

I have a Franz Hals print by my bedside. Daily I rise and the image greets me first thing in the morning. Ah, that is what Alpha Art is. It is there, rocking like the Himalayas! For another million of years,– any number of years, it will still be there, rocking like the Himalayas! The Yin and Yang, the unity, the balance, the oneness, the movements, the relationship, the power, the great flow of Qi,–yes, all of that, is what can be found in an Alpha lineage composition, a lineage that goes back to Cezanne, Titian, Van Eyck, as well as ancient Egyptian, Greek, Oriental, and Islamic art. They are the elements that, when fittingly orchestrated by an Alpha Seer, one who has perfect pitch and proper perception, will create a total image in such a way as to exude a certain Fung Shui energy that rocks like the Himalayas! That Fung Shui energy is both delightful and beneficial.

There is one Ben Lau by my bedside too. It is the same, it exudes the same kind of beneficial energy. For any number of years, for million of years more, it will still rock, it will rock like the Himalayas! So a complete composition is one that has been identified by the Alpha Seer as the Alpha lineage composition. It is the Holy Grail of art, the very expression of universal beauty. No matter how well you argue, or how cunning your dissertation is as an academic, you still cannot get away from the truth. The truth will eventually catch up with you. The truth has caught up with Dr. Billy Fried, Ph.D. and bitten him a mouthful! Deceitful impostors, most of them academics, may have looted from the blind, the uninformed, the crowd with over-sized ego and throbbing herd instinct, whose only mindset is to blindly follow the leader or a so-called art expert! Again, one is not judging. One is simply pointing out the facts!

An Alpha lineage composition is a complete thing! It is the holistic thing! All complete compositions enjoy the same status, as they all rock like the Himalayas! Only the creators may vary. Different Alpha Seers may have different intelligence or dispositions. They have different personalities, likes and dislikes, for sure. In short, different Alpha Seers have different artistic DNAs. Some may be more skillful, producing MORE  gorgeous results that can be identified as complete. In other words, in a given time frame, some can produce more precious results, something that will cost you millions to own because they are so rare, rarer than the rarest gems. For example, Knox Martin is a giant in this field. Knox Marin is a super creator of Alpha lineage art! He has many work that can be called, and rightly so,–they can be rightly called complete. Most of Knox Martin’s million dollar jobs rock like the Himalayas! They are million year job as well! Even that notion can be deemed rather too limiting. Why not consider the timeless state,–wherein time is no longer divided into past, present and future, but consider an existence without measurement,–the state of timelessness. It is not just eternal, infinite, but measureless as well as priceless.

Do this little experiment at home: place a print of a Knox Martin painting (since most cannot afford a real Knox Martin painting!) by your bedside. Time can tell! Like a complete baby,– one notices the mouth, the eyes, the belly button, the fingers, the toes, as well as the sexual organ,… . Yes, they are all there, that is why we are calling the baby complete! Nothing is missing in a complete baby! A complete composition is like a complete baby. Nothing is missing in a perfect gift from Mother Nature, indeed, none is amiss in a healthy, blushing, pinkish baby!  A complete artistic or musical composition is by nature, not unlike the baby, something that has come to us with flesh and blood, a gift from Mother Nature! The artistic genius is a gift from Mother Nature, isn’t it? That is why we have identified an Alpha composition as the rarest of gems that is born of the heart and soul of a holy being, one of the most sacred of mysteries in the universe! Believe it or not, the complete composition is the supreme expression of artistic beauty. And verily it won’t bore you, its completeness will never cease to entertain your spiritual curiosity, even if you were to look at it a thousand times everyday. Just as a healthy baby is a work of art, a complete composition is a work of art! Ask the baby’s mother, and find out if there is the possibility for her to become bored by staring at her own sweetheart the whole time, to see if she can be exhausted in that seemingly redundant activity! Ask her and I am sure she won’t lie to you. A “NO!” is a NO! It is that simple! Why is she not bored? I cannot tell you why,– beyond the conjecture that an interest deriving from that simple pleasure of looking cannot diminish,–even if the world can and does. That has been my own experience with the complete composition, and the mother’s with her own cuddling sweetheart!

A complete composition, an Alpha art lineage composition, i.e.  the Mozarts, the Hydn, and the Beethovans of visual art, rocks like the Himalayas, as it is all so natural, and as it is all so rare!

They will cost you many millions to own. They are the stars in the clear of an autumnal night. The rest are just fabrications or imitations. Even the so-called rock stars from the original Rock And Rolls are just sickly imitations, low-quality, mediocre merchandise. In truth, the original Rock and Rolls, or any other folksy celebrities are no more than shabby impostors on the cheap. With their best achieved efforts placed next to the real things, and after fully comparing every aspect of such, with the real things, such as works by Van Eyck,Titian or Cezanne, tell me the differences if you can. In terms of completeness, the Yin and Yang relationships, the strength, the flow, the power of metaphors, the unity, and the balance, etc., etc., tell me their qualitative differences.  I am quite sure that when such a task of comparison has been taken up seriously, it is really not hard to see why a million dollar job must first be a million year job!

Figure 1 is another million dollar job by the Alpha Seer profusely praised by the great master Knox Martin. One may see a certain geometrical pattern which combine the Yin energies and the Yang energies in such a way that unity is achieved. This unity is called ONENESS.

Today we shall leave the discussion of art for a while. Instead we are here to discuss something which is more urgent to our existence.

Let this question be asked:

Who is this thing that I have called “I, me, or myself ” throughout my entire existence?

That is the question.

I have met many a deranged persons in my lifetime. Actually there is one I keep seeing everyday as he paces endlessly on the lawn across the street. My house is just opposite a community home for the disabled.

Obviously he has lost his senses to figure that out for himself.

Nothing is sadder in the entire universe to have lost your senses. So precious are they: those are the only things you must protect, not your name, properties, country, king, belief, legacy, and what not… .

Now if you have failed in that understanding, it is still not too late. You still have time to make up. Even Saddam can make up if he can,– before the execution, or Hitler, before his suicide. The main thing is to be alone. Then the next step is to relax and and lay your mind to be at rest, but ever watchful,– more or less like the moment when you fall asleep. i.e. closing your eyes to be at ease totally but not really sleeping. That is the simplest task for everyone whose mental health is still intact,– yet it is the best kept secret… . Only the most introspective, and the most sacred of sages of yore (like Buddha or Jesus) have knowledge about that simple but supreme pleasure.

To be alone does not mean to be a loner. A loner is really an oddball. Quite the opposite, to be alone means you are home again. It means you are free finally. You are unburdened of the worries of life. It means there are no attachment, no trouble, no worry, no fear, no jealousy, no hatred in the whole wide world. It is not an enforced thing. You are just automatically free, that is all. It means you are happy again. It also means you do not have to escape from your demons anymore, since there are no demons, as you can find out. You have found your way into that sanctity of the noblest,– the most perfect.You are with yourself. you are with the universe! In fact you are the universe. the truth is, once you are at that stage of clarity, you can never be feeling lonesome again, though you have not surrounded yourself with friends or relatives, nor money nor fame. Then the answer suddenly clicks, and you have found out who this being really is.

People are without patience these days, and they have the attention span of a gnat! Great art cannot exist in such an environment! Last week I asked a teen person to view the Knox Martin Deposition ( i.e. the “Knox Martin on Ben Lau” video***,) but next morning he came back to me and asked me what it was all about! Can you believe that? So instead of answering him, I chose to ask him, “Young man: was the video a bit too long, or perhaps too boring for you?
“No, I just don’t have time to finish the whole thing!” Came the answer.

“Ha, ha,” said I, “Granted that being the case, that everybody’s life at school is full of stress and we all have to deal with tests or exams all the time, but friend, my original intention was to benefit you with a fine print from my studio,–however, you cannot just take it from me, you must be able to show that you have earned it, you must first learn why I am willing to part with something so precious, and in the process find out for yourself if it is indeed worthy of such a transaction,” Our young friend had definitely blown away the Alpha Seer’s enthusiasm to pieces,– and permanently, too. There was a somewhat similar story some years ago, when the great master Knox Martin gave out a number of fine lithographs through me, to an organization in Hong Kong,– the Wah Yan One Family Foundation, and it was a mistake! As it turned out, the CEO of that organization was a dunce. He had failed to understand the significance of those art, neither was he able to show any sign of appreciation toward the generous gesture from the great Knox Martin! (Those prints will be sold for millions of dollars when their time comes, but he simply took them for granted.) Most importantly, this individual had failed to lift a finger simply to allow true art to take root in his own community,– all that ever required of him was to lift one finger, lend a brotherly shoulder, as his organization’s so-called “One Family” theme suggested. I know for a fact that it would be so easy for him to do so, as his organization is associated with all kind of influence in Hong Kong. But this individual failed to do it! As easy as lifting a finger, yet he failed,–or, more appropriately,– he did not even give a damn!

While the lack of awareness in the teen may have cost him the possession of a fine print that may be worth hundred of thousands one day, the lack of awareness in a full-grown person with a CEO’s stature would be unforgivable! The Alpha Seer is just using the incentive of the dollar sign to indicate the sense of loss here in the story, yet the real loss can be felt far deeper than that, when brought into proper perspective. It is a loss to Humanity in the sense that no one in the world has the awareness for true art anymore, nor do we have time for poetry anymore.

The public’s attention span is no more than the life-time of a gnat. Here I am talking about the Americans, the Chinese, the Japanese, the Koreans, the Singaporeans, the Malaysians, the Africans, the African pigmies, the Jews, the Arabs, the French, the Canadians, the Germans, the British (Oh yes, esp. the British!) the Egyptians, the Brazilians, the Colombians, the Gipsies, the Christians, or the Muslims,– yes, you name it…!

Now let us look at Figure 1.
As some of you may be aware, there has been quite a struggle for the Alpha Seer to arrive at this final shape of the Satyr and Nymph Series 4973 (FIGURE 1.) In rendering the composition with a gem-like quality, i.e. in turning an amorphous pile of illustration into the sublimity of a brilliant gem, there is always a magnificent struggle, even for the great masters like Matisse or Picasso!

Compared with SATYR AND NYMPH SERIES 65 shown in FIGURE 2, SATYR AND NYMPH SERIES 4973 may not be enjoying the same fluency of richness in its metaphoric cultivation and placement at first glance. However, whatsoever may be regarded as its weakness here does in fact possess the potential, or the very seed for future inventions. In other words, it may be claimed with certainty that the composition of SATYR AND NYMPH SERIES 4973 embodies the possibility of a game-changing move in the playing field of painting.

Always remember this: the aim of painting is in the creation of a perfect composition, wherein the target is struck with a perfect pitch at the heart of poetry. It also means that the totality of the thing has unity, balance and harmony. Always look at the big picture, lest you will let the ball drop!

A significant theme of a Lineage creation is that all visual forms are fluid and flexible by nature and hence they can be easily manipulated, reinvented, re-designed, twisted, cut off, or bent to shape, so that a metaphor may be molded to submit or subjugate itself in the process. The perfect composition is the BIG PICTURE itself. The perfect composition is the Holy Grail of art! The masters from the Great Lineage had arrived at a consensus with this observation: the act of painting must mirror the sublime interactions of Yin and Yang! Come to think of it, such an observation is so uncanny, because it liberates painting from the constraints of human thought and allows it to make a quantum leap beyond that which is time. Once a master composer commits himself to engage in the act of composition, he must not let the ball drop. Here “dropping the ball” essentially means the inclusion of an aimless blockage of Qi flow, or of allowing certain unnecessary features or decorative details to destroy the unity, the compactness, or the balance of its big picture. In his creation of 4973, the Alpha Seer is seen doing chiefly that. It is not about trying to figure out a certain method, as some have suggested***,– nor is it about the plotting of a road map in order to take a traveler from A to B. Painting, or perfect composition creating, is fundamentally about striking the target at the very heart of poetry, celebrating in it the creation of the visual metaphors,– through formal inventions, interventions and innovations, while simultaneously allowing the artist to avoid jeopardizing the calligraphic beauty of the BIG PICTURE. Finally, unity, balance and relationship must remain strong and concrete, so the Yin and Yang interaction may be brought into ONE perfect harmony in the sublime quality of a gem’s brilliance and compactness. Why fundamentally? Because Titian did his composition in this manner, Knox is doing exactly the same thing in his own way, Cezanne had done it likewise, Picasso, Matisse, and deKooning were achieving that same poetic aim in the creation of their metaphors! In short, the masters from the Great Lineage,– they all participate in the same enterprise, that of creating a perfect composition, and with each move they have, each in his own way, contributed a uniqueness that the Alpha Seer coins the “artistic DNA” of that master’s  art. The “artistic DNA” of a master is not a style, –it never is,– since the word “style” conjures up a method, implying some formula for achieving a given goal. No, there should be no formula, no style, no method at all! One cannot create a masterpiece through a robot, for instant, nor can one have a perfect composition through the stupid act of stylizing. Only a real master has the endowment of talent to perform and transform that very delicate balancing act. The real artist is a sacred man, but the genius in him is a ‘freak of nature!’ It sounds rather disrespectful to call Cezanne a freak, but to a blind public, he is, nevertheless.

Eventually, the perfect composition pertains to a beauty that is universal to the masters of the Great Lineage. Since such masters are bona-fide artistic geniuses, the same must be true to Humanity. The beauty of the perfect composition is therefore universal to all!

Remember: the act of creation entails an uncanny performance that is both spontaneous and simultaneous, with execution so precise that not a single beat is amiss. In the video, Knox talks about the “perfect pitch” of Ben Lau, and now one may enjoy the perfect pitch of Ben Lau in its fullest application and manifestation in the SATYR AND NYMPH SERIES 4973! Perfect pitch always exists in great musical compositions. For example, Mozart, Beethovens, Bach, Haydn, and Schubert always have perfect pitch in their compositions. Strauss, Tsaikovsky, Brahm, Listz, Sibelius, Korsakov, Dukas almost never do! Again, it is not an opinion, since it can be shown to exist. When the same criteria is applied to painting, one is sure to feel the perfect pitch of a Knox Martin, or a Van Eyck, a Titian, a Velazquez, a Rubens, a Franz Hals, a Cezanne, a Picasso, a Matisse, or a deKooning… . One can never feel any good pitch at all, from within the framework of visual engagement, what has been carelessly passed as art, that is not in any sense balanced, or harmonized, as in a Kandinsky, a Frida Kahlo, a Jackson Pollock, an Andy Warhol, a Damien Hirst, a Rauschenberg, or a Norman Rockwell,… . Why? Because they are all illustrations, not art! Knox has said it well, they are fossil language, NOT ART! And why? can’t we now see a Jackson Pollock is a perfect piece of packaged junk! If one were to think about it with any degree of seriousness, one cannot escape this reality, i.e. Pollock is an impostor! Do not admire a Jackson Pollock because the chap happened to be an American. Patriotism has never entered into the equation for artistic greatness,–and what does Krishnamurti said about the true nature of patriotism? Krishnamurti would tell you that patriotism is poisonous and insidious like a king cobra inside the house, right under your bed!

Let us now recapitulate what Knox Martin says in that video. He is saying, real art creates reality, truth, and beauty, and as such, it is a cutting edge phenomenon. Real art pushes the boundaries of pure perception to new frontiers. He also says the illustrators’ effort are poor attempts at illustrating such truth, reality, or perception. The efforts of Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, Rauschenberg, Frida Kahlo, Frida Diego, Grandma Moses, Marcel Duchamp, Jackson Pollock, and what have you,– impostors of the past 250 years,– may have filled immense volumes but they are low cynical stuffs and they are primitive! Such efforts are no more than futile attempts at illustration at best. At worst, they are not THE REAL THINGS! They are fake stuffs in the name of art!

Knox Martin is telling his truth in the video. Knox has never been academic, and he abhorred all things academic right from the beginning of life, at a tender age. He was a high school dropout, and everything he has in his vast and beautiful brain has been the results of a self-taught effort. Later on, he was hired to teach art at the Yale University graduate school,–and hear this, folks,– without so much as a high school diploma for his teaching credentials! Now, as we look back, that was some miracle indeed! It must have been an extraordinary exception in the hiring history of Yale. But let’s face it, how many super geniuses Yale has had the good fortune to encounter in the span of a lifetime, say, in an interval of 100 years?

It did seem such a great honor for anyone, being invited to teach at Yale, but unfortunately, Yale had never proven to be a good fit for the untamed brilliance of the man! Yale is too small in Knox’s limitless world view! The politicizing or back-stabbing that is the real face of the Academia in Yale had proven to be an assault most base, and very insulting, to the vast sensitivities of a great master! The academia at Yale is just as mediocre and brutal as academia elsewhere in the rest of the world! (Granted that, as a measure of pragmatism and generosity, an aura of glory upon his Alma Mater had been cast, the Alpha Seer still upholds his original assessment on all academia as true.) Knox always draws the line between what is art and what is NOT art. Each time he tells the truth about art, however, people would feel threatened, they would feel under attack, under siege. Actually, it is their own egos that are fast at work! Now Knox has the chance of telling the truth under oath,– and he tells you the basic truth about art, whether you like it or not! The public, especially the academics, are so vicious! They feel Knox is attacking them each time he tells that truth! Very fortunately for us this time,– and for all Humanity as a matter of fact,– Knox may now tell the truth about art UNDER OATH, and hopefully no one should feel they are under attack any more! Thanks to the gallant effort of a Minnesota attorney: by one masterful stroke, Attorney Crumley has put down a rebellion in the Pigmy Kingdom of the Academia! The Alpha Seer may have lost the tip of his right thumb in this transaction, but at least the truth may now be told for once, and with impunity too!

Lastly but most importantly, Knox is not expressing an opinion about art. Look: Knox Martin is a genius with a formidable I.Q. of 197 (contrast that with Einstein’s 165, or that of a former U.S. president, J.F.K’s 95, — politicians are really not so smart, especially G.W.B,… ,) of course Knox Martin knows what he is talking about! It is the general public who have failed in their perception miserably: I mean whoever you are, who believes that art is an opinion,– I also mean all you folks here who is suffering from the dismal effect of short attention span,– for having consumed too much meat, or sugary products or so forth … , and you who seek entertainment perpetually, and at the turn of a dime, you who are instantly excitable by gimmicks or sensation.

You are the symptom of your Age: Yes, you are the one who is miserably deluded about art!

Going back to Figure 1, we can see that the beard of the Satyr in 4973 has been greatly simplified to make it appear as one thick, horizontal patch, readying itself to answer the magnificent curling event that arises from the bottom right of the composition, gracefully curling clockwise to meet and consume the nymph’s left eye! Do I care what our so-called critics have to say later on about this strange but graceful curling event? Here in a perfect composition, meaning is not even important or relevant, in fact the critics may say whatever they want, or they may say what they may have misinterpreted as true perception,–e.g. such comments as, “Ahh, I can see that the nymph is a Muslim, or the Satyr is about to remove the veil from her lovely face, etc.” Ahh, what blind asses they have always been! Let the Alpha Seer repeat for the hundredth time: the story line is not even a small part of our aim here! It is just an excuse! If you want an entertaining story, go to the illustrators,–there is no shortage of such supply in their illustrations,–in fact, there are million upon millions of them: the works of Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, Rauschenberg, Jackson Pollock, Frida Kahlo, etc…, are nothing but illustrations or story lines of mediocre and small lives. Yes, you have been handed a raw deal, but you are still not aware of it!

To be fully candid with you folks, these commentaries on composition have not been written with the general public in mind, and the Alpha Seer has never aspired to be an art educator. Neither do these commentaries serve the purpose of a composition’s analysis. Every composition is a new invention in its own right. Each one is unique and specific in its own way. It is unique with the artistic DNA of its creator but specific in its full compliance with the Great Lineage from the true artistic geniuses in history. In other words, analysis of a composition does not seem to have too much of an application here.

The general public are mostly inert to art, in fact,–as they have always been to anything beautiful and poetic! They are basically an existential throng, materialistic by nature, stomach filling by need, and sensation seeking by desire. These commentaries on compositions have never been intended for their consumption. Why? The public do not understand artistic greatness! This is by no means a critique on our society, it is simply true of all people in all societies at all times.

If, however, you have found yourself to be a future Picasso, or someone with the great Titian’s artistic potential, then you should be listening and reading these commentaries attentively, because hopefully you will be able to learn TRUE composition one day!

Matisse was right when he said “You cannot teach art!” However, we must understand that statement in context in order to comprehend its true meaning. Of course, you cannot teach art to the general public,– but I am quite sure that you may teach art to those who are highly gifted!

As an artist wannable myself in 1974, I had gone to NYC looking for someone who can truly,- and I mean truly, teach art, and I had the supreme good fortune of finding Knox Martin,–or rather, Knox, me. By an almost impossible streak of luck, I had picked the right town in the entire world, and the right school in that fabulous town,–the Art Students League, to find just such a person! So teaching art to someone had turned out to be an affair of the possible after all! It all depends on WHO you are teaching art to, as well as who YOU are as art teacher! The chance of two highly gifted individuals meeting in NYC in the 70s at an art school was so slim that it now appears to me that destiny may have played a hand. That destiny is predetermined to engage us, two real artists since Cezanne, in order to enable the world in the conserving of true Poetry is especially true when viewing our plight in the aftermath of Postmodernism.

Figure 1 is an incomplete composition, while 2 is complete. 4973 can be called a masterpiece as well as an extraordinary invention, its tall order is something that all real artists who are worth their salt should aspire to. It took the Alpha Seer himself about 3 months to bring what first began as a sketchy work to its completion.

In this composition, which Knox Martin had praised with over 50 appreciative exclamation bars, one may make the comment that this particular Satyr must be out of his mind in dating such a sickly looking nymph, looking like an alien from the E.T. movie. But all forms in a framework of creation are subjugated to the greater scheme of things, namely, the serious attempts in a conscientious effort in the perfecting of the black and white interactions. What concerns us in such a task are the usual questions of whether a composition is robust with energy, is it free in its Qi flow, or is it without an incident of blockage in its black and white interactions. Pay attention to every subtle change of lines, strokes, shapes, and directions while making an effort to understand why 4973 is a much stronger derivative of 4971. Yes, we are mainly concerned with the usual criteria in the quest for compactness, balance and unity. Do not venture into the landmines of emotive or narrative complications, imagination,sociopolitical commentaries or psychological interpretation! Art exists in the timeless reality realm of beauty only!

If a present day genius (Knox Martin) concurs with the Alpha Seer (a.k.a. Master Ben Lau) that this is a million dollar job, what makes you think a future artistic genius would possibly believe otherwise?

Such things are so universal and obvious, its beauty will never go away in a billion years,– yet no one,– no one in the whole wide world, except Knox Martin is seeing it!
